Getting Smarter

At Rojo we're always working to make feed reading the best experience it can be. One of the best sources of information is what you, and all of our other users, are reading. We've just released some features that use this "attention" information to make Rojo smarter. Here are some highlights on our new release. Let us know what you think!

  • Relevant Stories – Rather than just viewing the most RECENT stories from all of your feeds, you can now view the stories most RELEVANT to you first. We do this in part by interpreting the attention that you and other users give to feeds and stories.
  • Recommended Links – Rojo tracks the web pages linked to by stories in your feeds. We then recommended the web pages getting the greatest number of inbound links, and show you what other stories and feeds are discussing that web page. To "scope" recommended links, choose one of your feed tags in the left sidebar and then select "Recommended Links" in the header.
  • Feed Recommendations – You will now see feed recommendations show up in the headers of many Rojo pages. To make these recommendations, we consider what feeds your feeds link to and what feeds are read in close association with your feeds by other users.
  • Feed Search – Need to find more feeds? Try our new Feed Search feature which uses user tags and user attention to help you find the best feed to match your search request. If you know the URL of the web site you are looking for just enter that—let us know how well we do!

We are working on being smarter by paying attention—and we especially pay attention to your comments, so keep 'em coming!

Comments

Here's a comment I hope you'll listen to: My top peeve with the UI is that when I'm looking at the articles in a feed, I can't click on the feed's title (at the top of the list) and go straight to the site's main page. This information is in pretty much every feed not set up by a total incompetent, and this feature is in pretty much every half-mature feed reader out there. There's no reason not to make the feed title an active link to the site.

I find it an annoying blemish on the one RSS reader that was good enough to tempt me away from BlogLines for a while.
